Nixonton |
town in W Pasquotank County on Little River. The site was originally known as Windmill Point. Laid out in 1746, settled then or soon afterward, and est. 1758 as Nixon's Town. Named for Zachariah Nixon, an early settler. Appears on the Collet map, 1770; served as county seat, 1785-1800. Inc. 1818; reincorporated 1951, but not now active in municipal affairs. |
