Balinese cloth vendor carries folded wares on her head

A Balinese cloth vendor carries colorful folded fabrics on her head as she walks along a path near a rice field. All young Balinese girls learn to carry loads--everything from schoolbooks to heavily filled baskets--perfectly balanced upon the tops of their heads as they walk. The stright posture and attention to balance involved also embodies the Balinese ideals of social and cosmological balance.
