Jersey Settlement |
former community on the E bank of Yadkin River near present Linwood, which see, in W Davidson County (formerly Rowan). So called because settlers in the 1750s arrived from New Jersey. A post office by the name existed as late as 1830. |
Jerusalem |
former community in S Davie County. In 1815 a union church was organized there, erected on land given by Nicholas Click, and named New Jerusalem. By the 1830s a community was growing up around the church; a post office est. in 1850 was called Jerusalem. Church still active (Baptist), but the community has ceased to exist as such. Alt. 787. |
