Water-powered Tibetan prayer wheel in western mountain, Nepal

Tibetan prayer wheel underneath a chorten. The wheel is turned by the force of water from another part of the chorten.Prayer wheels do not have to be water-powered, often they are hand-held, but all are inscribed with Buddhist prayers or mantras. Spinning the wheel is believed to have the same effect as reciting the prayer. It is said that prayer wheels are used to accumulate wisdom and merit or good karma and to purify negative energy.
