Sheep herded along a mountain trail

On the route from Birethanti to Nayathanti, Nepal, people move sheep and mountain goats along a narrow mountain trail. A landslide can be seen on the mountainside.Landslides are a regular occurrence in the mountains of Nepal during the rainy season. Nepal's rainy season — or monsoon season — typically begins in the second week of June and ends in the last week of September. Unlike most parts of Asia, monsoon in Nepal is characterized by nighttime rains and clear skies in the mornings. These animals are probably on their way to be sold in towns and cities for Dasain, the national festival of Nepal, during which the animals will be sacrificed. Dasain falls around September or October and lasts for fifteen days.
