Scarecrows, cloths, and ropes hung in ripening rice fields to scare away birds

As harvest time approaches, scarecrows, cloths, and ropes are hung in ripening rice fields to scare away birds. In a path through the nearly ripe fields, the owners have hung several scraps of cloth from ropes and stuck a small scarecrow made of plant husks on an elevated pole.
