Picture symbol: Angry

Expressing Emotions
Picture symbols can also assist in the development of social story — a story written from a child’s perspective that helps her or him understand emotions and behaviors in social situations. Not only can children with ASD use the symbols to express their own feelings, but teachers and parents can put the pictures into stories to show how other people felt in particular situations. This is especially helpful for children with autism who have a difficult time interpreting subtle social cues.
