Rama's chariot and army cross bridge to demon island (Thai Ramayana mural)

Rama's chariot and army cross bridge to demon island (Thai Ramayana mural)

Rama's army crosses the stone bridge to Ravana's demon island of Lanka, as seen on a mural at the Emerald Buddha Temple.A golden, horse-drawn chariot carries Rama in its tiered-roof tower, as his accompanying army marches across the completed stone bridge. Rama's monkey troops walk beside and behind his chariot. Waves crest in the sea behind the bridge, and a second chariot pulled by horses is visible at left.

The successful crossing to Lanka takes place once Hanuman has distracted Ravana's mermaid daughter and won her to Rama's side so that she calls off the sea creatures who were ruining the bridge.
