Nepalese girl with infant on her back

On the trail between Ghorepaani to Taatopaani, Nepal, a local girl carries a younger child on her back, strapped around with a shawl. The girl is eating baked corn, and the child on her back holds a corn cob as well. Baked sweetcorn is a treat enjoyed during September's harvest. Older children as well as the elderly are often responsible for child care in the mountains of Nepal. Mountain life requires continuous work and support in the form of child care is necessary.
