Hans Wagner's cabin

The reconstructed cabin of Hans Wagner, in Bethabara, North Carolina. Wagner was a hunter, trapper, and miller who built this cabin in 1752 in what was then the backcountry of North Carolina. In 1753, the Moravian church bought the tract of land where the cabin was, and Wagner moved to the Yadkin River. On Nov. 17, 1753, a group of 15 Moravian men moved to the newly purchased Wachovia Tract and lived in Hans Wagner's cabin while they cleared the land and built their first house. The Moravian settlement of Bethabara grew around the cabin.
