Who Cares About Genetic Engineering
Ms. Brewington’s class began a unit on genetic engineering with a brainstorming session that asked the question, “Who cares about genetic engineering?” The resulting list, displayed in the classroom, forms the basis of the “who cares?” challenge, and provides a reference point as the unit of study progresses. The perspectives approach thus offers students a constant reminder of the relevance of curriculum objectives, providing a ready answer to questions like “Why do I need to know this?” or “When will I use this information?”
