Chortens in the Muktinath temple area

Two chortens -- Buddhist stupas that memorialize Buddha's teachings -- with chalices on top in Muktinath, Nepal. This is in the vicinity of the temple of Muktinath, a famous pilgrimage site for both Buddhists and Hindus. The Tibetans call this Chumin Gyatsa, which means "hundred waters." Muktinath, on the other hand, means lord of liberation and is one of the many avatars -- or incarnations -- of the Hindu god Vishnu.
