Advancetown in E Davie County. Known as Shady Grove as early as 1816. When a post office was est. in 1877, a new name was required because there was already a Shady Grove post office in the state. Named because local citizens expected progress with the addition of a post office to the community. Inc. 1893. Alt. 810.
