Wallace ChannelNE Carteret County, a navigable lane in Ocracoke Inlet running NW and se. Appears by the name on the Price survey of Ocracoke Inlet, 1795. Named for David Wallace Jr., whose house on Portsmouth Island was used as a sighting point by pilots using the channel entering the Atlantic Ocean. Sometimes referred to as Beacon Island Road in the eighteenth century.
