Stag Parkcommunity and former plantation, central Pender County on the Northeast Cape Fear River. Named in 1663 by Barbadian explorers for parklike terrain on which they saw deer feeding. Appears on the Ogilby map, 1671. Governor George Burrington in about 1730 acquired 10,000 acres there and built a summer home.
