Mount Vernon	crossroads community in central Rutherford County between Catheys Creek and Second Broad River.
Mount Vernon Springs	community in W Chatham County. The springs, a popular resort area in the early and middle nineteenth century, are approx. 1 mi. w; known earlier as Hickory Springs. The present community was inc. as Ore Hill in 1907, but the charter was repealed in 1913. Named for the home of George Washington. Alt. 500. See also Wilcox Iron Works.
Mount Willing	W Orange County on the head of Toms Creek.
Mount Yonaguska	on the Haywood-Swain county line between Tricorner Knob and Luftee Knob in Great Smoky Mountains National Park near lat. 35°41'40" N., long. 83°14'53" W. Alt. 6,150. Named for Yonaguska, chief of the Cherokee Indians.
Mount Zion	community in W Wilkes County on Stony Fork Creek. Named for a Baptist church that was organized there in 1849.

Mountain Branch	rises in N Stokes County and flows E into Snow Creek.
Mountain Canal	E Washington County, extends NE from Lake Phelps to Scuppernong River.
Mountain Creek	rises in S Alexander County and flows S into Catawba River.
Mountain Creek	is formed by the junction of its North and South Forks in SE Catawba County. It flows SE into Catawba River.
