Place	Description
Gibbs Point	peninsula extending into the mouth of North Landing River, NE Currituck County. A nearby community is known as Gibbs Woods. Site of the home of Capt. John Gibbs, who in 1690 claimed to be governor of Albemarle. The Moseley map, 1733, shows the area as "Gover. Gibbs's Point."
Gibbs Point	point of land extending into Pamlico Sound from S Hatteras Island N of the community of Avon, S Dare County. Probably named for Henry Gibbs, who had a grant of land on Hatteras Island in 1716.
Gibbs Point	extends into Pamlico Sound from the E mainland of Hyde County.
Gibbs Woods	community near Gibbs Point in NE Currituck County. See also Gibbs Point.
Gibbton	community in central Pamlico County on Trent River.
Gibby Branch	rises in W Macon County and flows E into Choga Creek.
Gibby Branch	rises in S Swain County and flows NW into Brush Creek.

Gibraltar	former community in central Union County between Richardson's and Crooked Creeks. Appears on the Shaffer map, 1886. Later known as Polk Mountain, but no longer recognized as a community.
Gibson	town in W Scotland County. Post office est. there 1846 and named for Noah Gibson, storekeeper and first postmaster. Inc. 1899. Alt. 255.
