Student work: Lighthouse model
Student work provided by Anne Hawkins, Melodie Hunsberger, and Mary-Elizabeth Robinson.
Student Choice
Each student chose three projects from a list of twelve assignment options, one of which was a teacher-approved “free choice” option.
According to tiering expert Linda Robinson, “Not all students share the same interests, but the more we incorporate students' interests into the learning, the more likely they are to be engaged. By tiering assignments based on student interest, students at different levels of mastery can interact respectfully.”
