Description: This war memorial honors the sacrifice of service members from all five branches of the U.S. military in the Vietnam War. An impressive installation, it is composed of a central circular reflecting pool with fountains surrounded by a circular formation of tall cylindrical pillars. A circular garden area with a paved walkway surrounds the central fountain feature and the entire structure is encompassed by a glass wall where the names of the 58,229 fallen are etched. The glass wall is comprised of approximately 3,700 square feet of glass.

Unveiling & Dedication: The dedication of the completion of the first phase of the memorial occurred on June 13, 2009. The glass wall was unveiled, and the ceremony included a color guard leading a procession.

Subject notes: This Vietnam memorial is one of the few in the country that list the names of all 58,229 women and men who died in the war. It also honors the wounded, prisoners of war, and those missing in action whose location remains unknown.

Location: The entire site sits within a triangular area bounded by Lejeune Boulevard, Montford Landing Road, and Highway 17.

Landscape: The monument is located at the center of a circular plaza in a clearing surrounded by pine forest. The 9/11 World Trade Center Beam Memorial and the Beirut Memorial are located nearby in the Gardens.
