The origin of the name is uncertain, but there are many stories, some concerning a horse named Cash that grazed there. Other stories concern a hermit named Cashiers who lived there. |
Cashiers Lake | an artificial lake in S Jackson County formed in 1922 on Chattooga River. Covers 30 acres, with a max. depth of 50 feet. Used for fishing, boating, and power generation. Named for nearby town of Cashiers. |
