Buxtoncommunity on Hatteras Island, SE Dare County. One of the most thickly populated sections of the Outer Banks. Formerly known as The Cape (for Cape Hatteras), but the post office was changed to Buxton, 1882. Named for Judge Ralph P. Buxton (1826-1900).
Buxtonplantation house in S Warren County S of the community of Inez; home of John Buxton Williams, a local planter. The house, built in 1850, is still standing.
