Pasquotank Riverrises in NW Camden County and flows SE to form the Camden-Pasquotank county line until it enters Albemarle Sound. An Indian village, Pasquenoke, is shown in the area on the De Bry map, 1590. Appears as Pacequenock on the Blaeu map, 1640, and as Prascantanck River on the Comberford map, 1657. The Intracoastal Waterway enters Pasquotank River through Dismal Swamp Canal. See also Shipyard.
