Jerome Boga pocosin on the Bladen-Cumberland county line E of the community of Jerome. An almost perfect elliptical shape with its long axis running NW-SE, it is an ancient lake now filled with peat. See also Carolina Bays.

Jersey Settlementformer community on the E bank of Yadkin River near present Linwood, which see, in W Davidson County (formerly Rowan). So called because settlers in the 1750s arrived from New Jersey. A post office by the name existed as late as 1830.
Jerusalemformer community in S Davie County. In 1815 a union church was organized there, erected on land given by Nicholas Click, and named New Jerusalem. By the 1830s a community was growing up around the church; a post office est. in 1850 was called Jerusalem. Church still active (Baptist), but the community has ceased to exist as such. Alt. 787.
