Black Riveris formed in S Sampson County by the junction of Six Runs Creek and Coharie River. It flows S on the Bladen-Sampson county line, the Bladen-Pender county line, and into W Pender County, where it turns SE to flow into Cape Fear River at the New Hanover County line. Approx. 30 mi. long. Appears as Black or Swampy River on the Moseley map, 1733.
