Sugartree Lickson the Haywood-Swain county line in Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Balsam Mountain near lat. 35°33'23" N., long. 83°09'28" W. Alt. approx. 5,160. The name comes from the days of cattle ranging in the area and a salting place. Salt for cattle was spread on the roots of a sugar maple tree.
