Rice Pathsite of early settlement on E end of Bogue Banks in S Carteret County. A vessel, laden with a cargo of rice, went aground there at one time. The people on the sound side made a path across the banks to the ocean side to get the rice, and so they called it Rice Path. Storms drove out early settlers until settlement of Salter Path, which see.
