| Donnoha | community in NW Forsyth County on Yadkin River. An Indian village was at or near the place that is named for Donnahee, an Indian chief. The name was applied in 1889 or 1890 by Dr. Samuel Martin of Winston, a descendant of the chief, who accompanied the surveying party that laid out the road from Winston to Wilkesboro and which passes through Donnoha. Richmond, former seat of Surry County, 1774-89, which was destroyed in 1830 by a tornado, was nearby. Alt. 757. |
