Shearer's Hilla low ridge on the N side of Yadkin River, NE Caldwell County. Named for John Shearer, who settled there about the end of the Revolution. A black cemetery there has been in use since before the Civil War, when the slaves of a number of wealthy planters in the neighborhood were interred.
