Monroes MillpondN Scotland County on Jordans Creek. Formed about 1825; known in the 1850s as McWilliams Pond. Covers 70 acres; max. depth 14 ft. Owned by Fayetteville Presbytery and used as a recreation area.
Monroetoncommunity in S Rockingham County between Troublesome Creek and Haw River. Est. prior to 1832; probably named for James Monroe (1758-1831), president of the United States. Cunningham Mill, built by James Patrick Sr. in 1818, still stands nearby. Patrick cemetery has graves dating from 1771. Cotton gin est. 1835.
