Allentonformer town in SE Stanly County on Pee Dee River. Laid off in 1-acre lots on an 85-acre tract on the lands of William and James Allen and John Davison in 1799. A post office operated there from 1813 to 1831; Allenton ferry operated there into the twentieth century. Site now under waters of Lake Tillery.
