Farmingtoncommunity in N Davie County. As early as 1805, former residents of Currituck County began to move into the area. Two hurricanes in 1830 and another one in 1839 caused extensive crop damage in the Currituck County area; the population of the county dropped from 7,655 in 1830 to 6,703 in 1840. The community was known as Little Currituck until 1837, when a post office was est. and named Farmington for the fertile farming land there. Alt. 758.
